Mirjam van Beek works with hand made silk products from her studio in the Scottish Borders. Before moving to the Scottish Borders she lived and worked in Holland.
Mirjam draws her inspiration and vitality from the colours and movement in the Borders Landscape that surrounds her.The silk is handpainted in a free flowing technique. Mirjam developed a special technique to mould the silk around the glass.
After steam fixing the dyes, the silk is dipped into a special solution and shaped around the glass.
The glasses are ornamental and should not be used as drinking glasses.
Very effective burning candlecups inside.
